Shumway Will Replace Adobe Flash in Firefox

Shumway Will Replace Adobe Flash in Firefox

Adobe Flash is dead, long live Shumway.

Mozilla is working on a project called Shumway which is meant to replace Adobe Flash in their browser.

The idea of replace Adobe Flash is to create an engine for Java Script and HTML5 that can read most files created for Flash.

This means that Mozilla soon can remove Adobe Flash plugin for Firefox and instead rely on a new flash system

The Shumway engine is not new, earlier this year introduced the technology in Firefox 19, which offered the ability to read PDF files directly in the browser. But now Mozilla take the technology a step further and include the Flash format.

It is still not known if and when Mozilla will replace Adobe Flash in Firefox.
